Medical device and electronics manufacturing industries require
strict adherence to specifications for quality, durability and
precision. For over 20 years, TechniPrint has been providing medical
device and electronic device makers, as well as their
subcontractors, close tolerance printing and laser etching on all
types of plastics and metals found in medical devices in addition to
printing on silicone.
For direct printing or etching on medical device parts it is
important to find a vendor who is familiar with a wide variety of
materials and knows what processes and inks to use on those
materials. Lack of durability is often the result of using the wrong
ink or process on the wrong material or not printing under the
proper environmental conditions. In addition, printing and laser
etching on medical and electronic parts that are multi dimensional
requires specific methods in order to avoid misalignment or
distortion.
For medical devices that require permanent labels, serial plates
or panel fronts, knowledge of the underlying surface is often
critical as well. While there are many materials and adhesives that
claim to be “permanent”, few are truly going to withstand the harsh
operating environments of many medical device and electronic device
applications. If the underlying surface is curved or textured, the
method of attachment for the label, nameplate or panel front for the
medical device becomes even more critical.
